Maintaining Your Balance

Take a pillow and place it on a soft floor. Then stand on the pillow with stretched arms. Try to balance yourself. Information is sent to the brain by the pressure sensor in the sole that you are standing on a pillow.

Now try to balance standing on one foot on the pillow. It becomes a little difficult as only half of the pressure information reaches the brain: Now ask your friend to blindfold you.

Now other visual information is not available to the brain, if you drop your arms to the sides it is far more difficult to balance in this position than with the arms stretched.

Skin under a Microscope

With the help of a brush apply a little blue ink on your skin, allow it to dry. Now take a small piece of cellophane tape and paste it on the ink on your hand.

Press it, then remove it and paste it on a slide.

Put the slide under a microscope, you can see blue skin cells attached to the cellophane tape.
