Phrasal Verbs are that consist of two or three parts – an ordinary verb and another word or words like IN, FOR or OFF. They are very common in English.


Here are some examples.


  1. Parliament is not ready to bring in poll reforms.



  2. Please join up, I will come with you.



  3. Please put out the light before going to bed.



  4. Rough sea washed away 100 houses in Dhaka.



  5. Security beefed up for CM’s visit.



  6. She believes in God.



  7. She drew back in fear at the sight of a snake.



  8. She got over her grief.



  9. She is trying on her blouse because it is a little short.



  10. She put on her shoes.



  11. She relied on me.



  12. She threw away after dinner.



  13. She took out money from her husband’s pocket.



  14. She washed up her old shoes.



  15. Start winding up into the hills.



  16. The crowd fell out in different directions.



  17. The officer looked into the matter.



  18. The police locked up him in the cell.
