GRE : Quantitative Comparison Problem

This is the Quantitative Comparison Problem-2.Understand the basic mathematical principles behind this problem and other problems.

Example-2

Richard’s salary, which is greater than $10,000 is 75 percent of Sandra’s salary. Ted’s salary is 80 percent of Richard’s salary.

Column A : Sandra’s salary

Column B : Ted’s salary

Answer

From the given information, we can deduce that Ted’s salary is 80% of 75% of Sandra’s salary.

= 80/100 X 75/100

= 4/5 X 3/4

= 3/5 of Sandra’s salary

If Ted’s salary is 3/5 of Sandra’s salary, Ted’s salary is less than Sandra’s salary.

SO, the answer is A.
