GRE : Quantitative Comparison Problem

This is the Quantitative Comparison Problem-7.Understand the basic mathematical principles behind this problem and other problems.

Example-7

Y = 3X/4: X = 2Z/3 and Z = 20

Column A : Y

Column B : 11

Answer

Since as per the information given,

Z = 20

X = 2Z/3

= X = 2 x 20/3

= X = 40/3

Y = 3X/4

= Y = [3 x 40/3] / 4

= Y = 3 x [40/4x3]

= Y = [3 x 40]/ 12

= Y = 120/12

= Y = 10.

So, B is greater than A.

So, the answer is B.
