Rhyming Words



Rhyming Words are more than slang words. However, these Words have a charm and romance all their own. Here are few selected such Words for your reference. All these words should be used only in informal context.


Chit-chat:

Noun- Informal: Inconsequential conversation, light informal talk

Verb: Talk about trivial matters

Example:

Girls are very fond of chit-chat.


Chock-a-block:

Adjective- Informal: Crammed full or tightly

Example:

Hashed Mehta’s suitcase was chock-a-block with currency notes.


Chow-chow:

Noun-Informal:

1. A mixed vegetable pickle, primarily made by Chinese

2. A Chinese preserve of ginger, orange peel and other ingredients in syrup

3. Another term for chow, slang (chiefly American) for food or mealtimes

Example:

Let us have some chow-chow.


Clap-trap:

Noun:

Nonsense, showy, sincere, empty talk or writing intended only to get applause or attention

Example:

As a film actor, Sheridan Sonja was full of clap-trap.


Culture-vulture:

Noun-Informal:

A person who is very interested in culture and the arts

Example:

Although unlettered, Emperor Akbar was renowned as a culture-vulture.
