Simple Telescope

Things required : Two shaving mirrors, magnifying glass.

Experiment : Place one shaving mirror on a table near the window facing the moon.

Place another mirror opposite the first one facing inward and keep it at an angle from where you can see the image of moon in the mirror facing inwards.

Take the magnifying glass and through it see the magnifying view of the moon in the mirror facing inwards.

Note : Do not try to observe the sun with this experiment

Angle of Reflection

Things required : A mirror, drawing board, drawing paper, drawing pins and a torch.

Experiment : First prop up a mirror against the wall. Place a drawing board in front of it. Cover the front of the torch with some opaque film, leave up a slit on glass 4 mm wide to get a ray of light. Place the torch on drawing board facing mirror. Using drawing pins, track the path of light from the torch to mirror and also of the reflected light. Draw a perpendicular line on the point where the light strikes the mirror. You will observe that the path of light from the torch and off the mirror forms equal angles to the perpendicular drawn.
