What is the difference between Ascent and Assent? :


Ascent :

( 1 ) Act of ascending

He was the first man to make an ascent in a balloon.


( 2 ) Upward path to slope

The last part of the ascent is very steep.



Assent : (verb)

( 1 ) To agree to a suggestion or an idea

The Director assented to the Board’s proposal.

We have to assent to what he says.



Assent : (noun)

( 1 ) Agreement to a suggestion or an idea

The committee is waiting for the Chairman’s assent.

Your assent is not required to marry your daughter.
