Progressive Form of A Verb :


The Progressive Form of a verb is that which represents the action as in progress or incomplete.

The Progressive form of any verb is made by placing before its Present Participle the various moods, tenses, numbers and persons of the verb to be.

Example :

The Present tense of the Indicative mood of the verb TO BE is….

I am.
We are.
You are.
He is.
They are.

By placing the above before the Present Participle of the verb TO SING which is SINGING, we have…

I am singing.
You are singing.

This is the Present tense, Indicative mood, Progressive form of the verb TO SING.
