What is the difference between Allusion and Illusion? :


Allusion :

( 1 ) Indirect reference

I made an allusion to the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.

This is in allusion to what you said last Sunday.



Illusion :

( 1 ) False idea or false belief or impression, delusion

I have no illusion about my ability.

( 2 ) Imaginary thing that a person wrongly believes to exist, false perception

That was an optical illusion.

In the hot sun, the surface of the road seems wet. But that is only an illusion.
