Failures are the stepping stones to success.

Failures are the stepping stones to success. :

Failures should not be seen as isolated events. They should be seen as a process - that is a part of your growing up. We must not be ashamed of failures for any one who has achieved something in life has faced at least a few failures. One has to learn from such failures and convert them into steps and to climb up and reach the top. Stepping stones here refers to the valuable lessons that we learn from failures.

We have several instances in history to show us that perseverance is what is important when you want to achieve great things in life. The story of Abraham Lincoln is an excellent example.

Despite repeated downfalls, Lincoln never gave up and went on to become the President of the United States when he was 52 years old. Till that time it was a life full of struggle for him.

Lincoln lost a lot of money in business at the age of 21. He was defeated in his attempt to become a Legislator when he was 22 years old. He tried his hand at business only to fail again at 24. He faced the death of a very dear friend when he was 26 followed by a nervous break down the next year. He contested and lost two very important political elections - one for a congress seat and the other for senatorship - when he was 34 and 45 respectively.

Lincoln failed in his effort to become the Vice-President when he was 47 and lost a senatorial race when he was 49. Any other person would have just given up. But not Lincoln. He still kept trying and was elected to the highest office of the country the President of USA - when he was 52 years old.

It is said that Thomas Alva Edison failed several hundreds of times before he invented the electric bulb. Unfazed by failures, Edison was so positive in his approach that he said. “I learnt how not to invent an electric bulb all these times".

There are many others who have created history like this with their never-say-die attitude. And young students could do well to remember them in times of trial. Their lives will be full of ups and downs. The students should always keep their spirit up so that their journey towards success will be certain.
