Director : noun : Person appointed by the shareholders to help run a company


Director : noun : person who is in charge of a project, an official institute, etc.

  • She was appointed director of the organization.

  • Managing Director = director who is in charge of the whole company


    Chairman and Managing Director = managing director who is also chairman of the board of directors


    Board of Directors = all the directors of a company


    Directors' Report = annual report from the board of directors to the shareholders


    Associate Director = director who attends board meetings but has not been elected by the shareholders


    Executive Director = director who actually works full-time in the company


    Non-Executive Director = director who attends board meetings only to give advice


    Outside Director = director who is not employed by the company
