Latin-derived terms whose singular form ends in “-is” and whose plurals are made by changing the “-is” to “-es” such as “thesis” (plural: “theses”) have their final syllables pronounced “eez.”

This pattern causes some people to do the same in other words without a Latin singular “-is” form, like “processes” whose last syllable should sound like “says.”
