Hot and Cold

Take two cans and paint the outside, one with black and the other with white. Pour some water in both the cans and then put both of them in the hot sun. After an hour take a thermometer and read the temperatures in both the cans. You will find the water in the black can to be hotter. This is because black colour absorbs heat while white colour reflects it.

What Is Condensation?

When hot steam meets cold air, it turns into water vapour and water drops. This is condensation. To see this process in front of your eyes, wear an oven glove and hold a spoon in the steam coming out of a vessel of boiling water. You will find water drops forming on the spoon. As smaller drops join together, bigger drops are formed which fall down as water drops. This is the way clouds are formed when water vapour meets the cold air.
