Nee

What is the meaning of the word nee?

By Mr. Steve, Bristol, UK,(9th Jan.2007).

The word is normally used after a married woman's name.

When you say "Parma Srivastav, nee Bali..." what you mean is that before Parma married Srivastav her family name was Bali.

Here are a few examples:

Mrs. Hillary Bill, nee Bush, wanted this to be in the office.

Mrs. Veda Ram, nee Rave, has changed a lot after her marriage.

The "ee" sounds like the "ay" in "say" and "bay".
