Pneumatic Power

By using a plastic bag you can lift a pile of books. Keep a plastic bag near the edge of your table and on it keep a pile of books. Now hold the mouth of the bag in a tight manner and blow air into it. As the bag gets inflated, you will find your books also going up. This is the power of Pneumatics.

The upward lift of the air

When aeroplanes are lifting up, much of the lifting is done by air. To understand this, try this experiment. Take a paper strip and blow air over it. You will find that the paper instead of going down is actually going up. That is because the airflow causes lowering of pressure on the upper side causing a relative higher pressure below the paper. The pressure difference causes the upward lift. This principle is used for flying aeroplane.
