What is the difference between Between and Among? :


Between :

1 ) In or into space separating two or more points, objects, persons, etc…

I lost my keys somewhere between the car and the house.

His job is somewhere between a typist and a personal assistant.

You have wait for me between the two platforms 12 and 13.

2 ) In the period of time separating two days, years, events, etc…

It is cheaper between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

I am usually free between Friday and Sunday.

AMONG is used of people or things considered as a group.

They talked among themselves while they waited for the bus.

Many children were standing among the crowd at the foot-ball match.



AMONGST is also used to mean the same AMONG .



BETWEEN is used of two persons or things whereas AMONG is used of three or more persons or things.
