First, let’s deal with the pronunciation. There are several ways of pronouncing this word. The simplest was is to pronounce the first e like the e in set, pet, and let. The following ee is pronounced like the ee in feel, peel and heel. The o sounds like the o in hot, pot, and dot, and the y like the I in hit, pit and sit. The final a is on the third syllable mos.


Remember, this is just one of the ways of pronouncing the word.


Not all dictionaries include this word. Eleemosynary is mostly used in formal contexts and it means relating to charity or the giving of alms.
