The Adjective Clause does the function of an adverb which modifies the noun.


Examples :



  • The school where I studied is a private school.



  • The dog that bites does not bark.



  • I am the monarch of all I survey.



  • The children who are on the bus are going to visit the museum.



  • The children on the bus are going to visit the museum.



  • The church where my grandparents were married is old.



  • The church in which my grandparents were married is old.



  • The church which my grandparents were married in is old.



  • The church that my grandparents were married in is old.



  • The church my grandparents were married in is old.



    (The boldened parts are the adverbial phrases)


    The Other Two Types of The Subordinate Clause are :

    (i) The Noun Clause
    (ii) The Adverb Clause
