Foreign Words and Phrases are those words and phrases which are widely used in other languages like French, Italian and Greek languages. Over the period of time, those phrases are being used in English as well.

Examples :

• Ab initio = from the very beginning (I have studied Economics ad initio.)

• Ad hoc = established for the special purpose (An ad hoc committee has been appointed.)

• Alma mater = mother institutions (We must honour and remember out alma mater.)

• Alter ego = bosom friend (Raman is my alter ego.)
